We were very blessed to have TONS of help the first month of Kipton's life. My mom stayed with us from the night before going to the hospital through the following Saturday. She got up with me every time during the night that Kipton got up and helped me get him ready to be fed. Changing his diaper and helping him to wake up a bit so he wouldn't fall asleep while eating. She drove us to places we needed to go, since I was not allowed to drive. She spent countless amounts of time with Macayla, taking her on walks, reading her stories, etc. Jason took off of work the Friday Kipton was born and the Monday we came home. With my mom here he didn't need to take off any more days. The Monday after my mom left, my friend Heather spent the day with us. She drove us to the YMCA and attended Macyala's gym class with her.
That evening Tricia and Jeremy arrived from MN. They stayed until Friday. They also were a great deal of help, especially with Macayla. Tricia wasn't sure how much help she would be since she was newly pregnant herself and had been VERY, VERY sick. Right before she came over to GB she got some anti-nausea meds from her doctor which helped take the edge off. Jeremy and Macayla had tons of bonding time. They read many, many books and watched movies on the new big TV in the newly completed basement with the newly installed surround sound. (Jason is very proud of his basement and has every right to be with all the hours and sweat put into in the past 6 months). Tricia and Jeremy were extremely helpful and we were sad to see them leave.
And then we were by ourselves...well for a few days at least. That next Monday Heather once again spent the day with us and attended gym class with Macayla. Tuesday Jason left for out of town through Friday :(. I packed up the kids and went to Freedom for the day to be with Jason's parents. After a fun-filled day with Poppy, Bushia, Angie and Collin, Macayla stayed for a sleepover and I took Kipton back home. Wednesday Jason's parents met me on HWY 29 with Macayla and we left for Minocqua. I was lucky enough that Heather was leaving for Minocqua at the same time so when I needed to stop in Wausua to go to the bathroom she was able to help out with the kids.
We then spent 11 days in Minocqua over the 4th of July. Of the 11 days, Jason was able to be there all but 4 of the days. Melissa was there during both of the weekends. It was a nice transition to being alone during the day when Jason was in GB and my parents were at work. I was able to meet them for lunch most of the days and my mom was home by 4:30 each day from work. The week and a half was filled with water ski shows, movies, walks, trips to the park, lots of ice cream and lots of extra help.
As you can tell Jason, Macayla, Kipton and I were very fortunate!
