24 Weeks

The weeks have been flying by! This week the reality of what is to come at the end of all of this hit...My co-teacher went home yesterday at 11:00am because she was thinking her labor was progressing not sure exactly if it was the real deal or not. We told her to go home to at the very least rest in case it was going to happen within 24 hours. Come to find out today, she ended up having her baby last night at 8:00!

We have a lot to do during the next few months to get ready for the arrival of this little guy. Jason is busy finishing the basement with the help of family and friends. We need the basement to get finished so the future nursery can get put together instead of being a storage room for stuff that needs to be in the basement. We are hoping that Macayla is potty trained by the time the baby comes...she is doing great and is "dry" during most days. We have transitioned Macayla to her toddler bed so that is one less thing on our to do list. We have to decide how to decorate and then to decorate the nursery.

Before we know it, it will be June!

***Next appointment is on March 2

Snow Day!

Last night I got the call that due to the "blizzard like conditions" we were going to have school on Monday. Macayla and I have had a great day. We slept in, watched Sesame Street, made brownies, read books and attempted a 2 year old photo shoot (key word: attempted). She loved the attention I was giving her during the photo shoot...she was such a ham!

Now that we know that the baby is a boy, Macayla will be keeping her room and the extra room will become the baby's room. We have moved the toddler bed into Macayla's room and she is on nap number two right now and had a successful night last night in the bed. She didn't cry when she woke up, which is typical, instead I heard some noise, went in there and she was playing! The next big change we are working on with her is potty training. She has actually been going on the potty since November, but we haven't been pushing the training real hard. In the past month she has had several "dry" days...as long as we remember to put her on the toilet at the right time. This past weekend I bought big girl panties...we'll see how that goes!

Macayla is going to have a little brother!

Last Thursday we had our ultrasound. Going into it I wasn't sure if we were going to find out or not. Jason wasn't giving me much of an opinion either way and so I just assumed he was going to end up wanting to find out. Much to my surprise, when the ultrasound tech asked us, Jason said he didn't want to find out! Throughout the ultrasound, Jason kept making comments to me which I interpreted him wanting me to say lets find out. I told him that I was fine either way, that he needed to make the decision. He asked me if I'd be upset if we didn't and I told him I wouldn't be upset...I had just come in thinking we were going to and had gotten kind of excited about it. At the end the tech told us that we had 30 seconds to make a decision because she was done...and as you can tell by the heading, Jason decided we should find out.
If we would have waited to find out I think I would have been shocked. I really thought Jason was destine to have all girls :). But he is very excited to be having a boy...I on the other hand have said, "I don't know anything about boys!" many many times in the past few days. I always wanted to have a boy at some point....but I have A TON to learn :).

Playing in the Snow

Today when I got home from work the neighbor kids were playing in the snow and building a really cool fort. I took Macayla over to check it out for a few minutes. As soon as I brought her inside she brought me her boots, put on her hat and grabbed her coat! So I took the hint and got her snow pants and bundled her all up. She did great except she did not want to keep her mitten on...oh well. Hopefully there will be some days in the next several weeks where it is a little warmer but still have plenty of snow. I would have liked to keep her out longer, but it was getting cold as the sun started to set.
