Friends from Iowa

This past weekend Jason's best friend from high school, Mike was in town with his wife Terri and twin 3 year old boys Aiden & Brice. It was great to see them. Because of the distance between Des Moines and Green Bay we do not get to see them very often. We had a great time visiting with each other. I really wanted to get a picture of Macayla with Aiden & Brice, but the boys never really slowed down long enough to get a good picture.
The video is of Mike blowing on Macayla's face. Ever since she was a newborn she has loved air on her face...whether it was from us blowing on her, a fan or a blow dryer...she loves it! She squirms with excitement and anticipation.

On the move...

The picture of Macayla in the crib...the last time I had checked on her head was on the other side of the crib, she was on her back and in the positioner. The picture with Macayla on the floor on her belly...she had started on her back on the changing pad. These days Macayla is always twisting and turning anywhere we put her...even when we are holding her! Her personality shines through more and more each day.
On another note, Jason and I know that we had it very lucky when she started sleeping through the night at about 2 months. We are getting our turn now however....almost every single night for the past 3 weeks Macayla has woken us up crying at least 1 time throughout the night. At first we wait to see if she puts her self back to sleep (sometimes happens), next I will get up and usually have to reposition her in the crib (often she is crying b/c she is on her belly and doesn't want to be), give her the nuk, if that doesn't work then I will rock her in my arms, at the very last resort I will feed her. Lately, just repositioning her and giving her the nuk is working. We are hoping this phase will end soon.

4 Month Update

We all made it back from Minocqua yesterday afternoon. Macayla and I had a wonderful time at my parents house. It was full of lots of people and excitement! My sister Tricia and her husband Jeremy were in town from Monday to Friday and during the week my other sister Melissa turned 21 so she had a bunch of friends come and visit. Although we stayed with my parents, Macayla got to see her other grandparents during the fireworks on the 4th, they came over for dinner on the 5th and then this past Friday Macayla and I went over to the campground for lunch.

We just got back from Macayla's 4 month doctor's appointment. Here are her "stats":

Height: 26 1/4 in, 96th percentile
Weight: 13lbs 5 oz, 34th percentile

During the past month Macayla has:
  • made many more sounds...I swear I heard the "mma" sound last night, although of course she didn't realize it!
  • graduated to 7 oz
  • graduated to a faster bottle nipple
  • been found all over her crib...she is mobile to a point!
  • roll from back to belly
  • giggled a few times
  • shows excitement by kicking her legs, flapping her arms and gasping
  • if she is on the floor she will change her position to be able to watch tv ...not the best thing in the world, but fun to watch her manipulate her body position so she can see the tv
  • great upper strength...I think she will be an early "sitter"
  • smiles very easily
  • is a very content little girl
  • occasionally gets up in the middle of the night, but not often
  • gnaws on anything she can...we are still determining if this is just because of her being in the "oral exploration" stage or if she is starting to teeth

New Friend Aubrey :)

Today in Minocqua 2 of my friends from college came over for lunch, Brian and Melissa Schuett. They live in Waukesha, but Melissa's grandparents have a cottage in Hazelhurst. Mid April they had a baby girl, Aubrey. Here are a couple of pictures of the two girls interacting. They loved just looking at each other and checking each other out. Macayla was so interested that she moved close enough to hold Aubrey's hand...it was so cute!

4 months old and mobile (...sort of...)

The last blog I posted mentioned that Macayla has learned to roll from her back to her belly. This morning I found her in her crib on her belly! When we put her to bed we place her in the positioner in the middle of the crib. Just take a look at where the positioner is at and where she has moved to! In the bottom pic her feet are through the bars of the crib. When we have found her in these many crazy positions in the crib, she is just smiling away and chillin'!
